Dubai Photo Diary Part One

If you've been following me on instagram you would have noticed I have been away on holidays. I'm terrible. It's been so long since I've uploaded the blog. Lots of interesting posts to come about my trip. It was an awesome trip. Back in Sydney now and this weather sure is depressing. First day back at work tomorrow!
.
The first stop in the hubby and I's European getaway was Dubai. What a great place. It's amazing to see how much the city has grown in such a short period of time. The level of infrastructure is something many cities can learn from. It was only in 1971 that oil was discovered in Dubai and since then it's managed to base it's economy on oil revenues and in the last decade or so via tourism as well.
.
My dear friend Ms M lives in Abu Dhabi so Mr and Mrs M came to visit us during our stay to take us and about. It always a treat having a local show you round. Thanks guys for a great time.
.
While we were in Dubai we stayed at the Sofitel at Jumeriah Beach. We really enjoyed our stay there. It's located across the road from the beach. It was on average 42 degrees each day so we definitely needed a beach. Oh and the beach was great! Although if you don't like warm water this isn't the place for you.
.
After our direct flight from Sydney with Emirates we checked into the hotel and immediately went on a desert safari tour with Desert Gate. Of course it was even hotter outside of the city centre. Boy was that something! The tour had camel rides, 4WD drive (okay let's call it roller coaster ride through the sand dunes) and a BBQ at a beduin camp site.
